Baptism is usually the first sacrament that a new Catholic will experience. Baptism washes away the Original Sin that we are all born with by virtue of being descended from Adam and Eve, the first humans. Through baptism, we are welcomed into the Christian faith.

A workshop is required before infant/child baptism. These two-hour classes are held every other month, with the next classes scheduled for 7/20, 9/21, and 11/9 after the 11:00 mass. Godparents chosen for an infant or child must be Catholics in good standing, but do not have to be parishioners of OLMC.

For adults wishing to become Catholic, the sacrament of Baptism is typically combined with Confirmation and Holy Communion (Eucharist) and is received at the Easter Vigil Mass. Instruction is required through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). This is a series of weekly classes that begin in September. Enrollment in the OCIA classes does not obligate anyone to receive the sacraments; it is always an individual choice whether or not to complete the process.
