JOB SUMMARY:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the care, routine and preventative maintenance, and stewardship of the church’s buildings, equipment, and grounds including the rental property. This position ensures that the church campus remains clean, safe, welcoming, and functional for staff, worship services, ministries, and community gatherings. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Maintain campus grounds to ensure they are clean, well-manicured, and safe for use.

·      Respond to urgent maintenance issues when they arise, within part-time availability.

·      Address safety concerns promptly and follow established emergency procedures including MSDS’s.

·      Read, interpret, and follow equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

·      Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of all buildings on campus; including basic plumbing, electrical work, heating/cooling, lighting, and carpentry; help maintain technology infrastructure.

·      Supervise maintenance, custodial, grounds, and cleaning staffs and assist as needed.

·      Perform a variety of tasks using both hand tools and power equipment, including mowing, trimming, planting, general ground maintenance, and snow removal. Mowing includes ensuring consistent height and even cutting, trim and edge around trees, shrubs, sidewalks and buildings, apply fertilizer and herbicide as needed, following safety protocols; clear debris, rake leaves, and empty outside trash receptacles.

·      Ensure equipment is properly secured, stored, and maintained; perform minor repairs and maintenance as necessary.

·      Assist with the set up and take down of rooms for liturgies, meetings, funerals, weddings, and special events.

·      Assist in the purchase of all cleaning, grounds keeping, and maintenance supplies.

·      Collaborate with Pastor and Finance Council in meeting with and scheduling vendors for specialized repairs or services to obtain the most cost-efficient equipment and service.

·      Perform routine inspections of all parish properties as described above to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns including monitoring work completed by vendors. 

·      Comply with federal, state, and local safety laws as well as with Diocesan regulations.

·      Attend staff meetings, diocesan meetings, and other meetings as appropriate and requested.

·      Support staff and volunteers with facility-related needs including the Security Committee.

·      Maintain confidentiality.

·      Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by the Pastor.

·      Adhere to regular attendance and punctuality.


 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Compliance with BCI and FBI background checks and completion of Protecting God’s Children training prior to beginning employment.

·      High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.

·      Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time role. 

·      Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC , carpentry, and general repairs.

·      Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment

·      Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities work or a related field is highly preferred.

·      Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·      Communicate and work effectively with parish staff, Pastoral and Finance Councils about facility needs, concerns and to achieve the desired goals.

·      Physical ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions

·      Frequent movement about the campus to complete the essential job responsibilities as outlined, incumbents must be able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

·      Maintain a neat and safe work area.

·      Reliable transportation and consistent availability.

·      Evening and weekend work may be required as necessary to attend meetings and special events.
