Planning a funeral is a complicated and stressful time for a family, especially if preferences were not previously made. We are available to make this process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
A Catholic funeral mass offers bible readings and music appropriate for the occasion. We encourage you to click on the tabs below to review suggested readings and music. Select a first, second, and Gospel reading. Then, make your selections of appropriate hymns for your loved one's mass.
Once you have made your selections, enter your choices into the Funeral Planning Worksheet prior to meeting with our Funeral Counselor and pastor.
Funeral Policy:
Policy on Eulogies: Please communicate to all families that in the Catholic tradition, eulogies are most appropriately given during the vigil services at the funeral home. The vigil service, and not the funeral Mass, is designed to be the time for family to share memories of the deceased.
The family needs simply to let the clergy know upon his arrival at the vigil service that it would like to offer eulogies and/or share memories spontaneously. This could also be indicated in the obituary so that the larger community could be present at the offering of eulogies/memories. The Funeral Mass, by contrast, is a sacred act of praying for the deceased and offering the deceased into the hands of God. For this reason, as well as certain difficulties from past experience, this church will continue to maintain a consistent policy that no eulogies will be permitted at any time during the Funeral Mass at the church. Because of the need for consistency and fairness, no exceptions will be granted.
Stipend Schedule:
The following stipends are normally asked of the family as part of the funeral arrangements. These may be collected by you and passed along to the parish; please call the office to make sure all checks need to be issued. In case of genuine hardship, feel free to contact the parish office for adjustments.
