At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we have an affinity for our children.  We offer a very active Parish School of Religion (PSR) program for our littlest parishioners.  Our PSR program is offered to children from Pre-K through 8th grade.  Our volunteer teachers are devoted to teaching the children in their classes about the love of God and our beautiful Catholic faith.  The classes are separated by school grade, but we also enjoy many celebrations for all students and their families during special times of the year.

Religious Education is the responsibility and privilege of Catholic parents and is first taught in the home by word and example. The daily witness of a parent’s love of Christ and His Church leaves the most profound influence on the faith life and formation of a child. The role of the parish and of the Religious Education Program is to support and assist parents in the catechesis of their children as well as provide parents with opportunities for adult faith formation. While parents lay the critical foundation of faith formation, the Religious Education Program promotes growth in a larger faith community by proclaiming Christ’s teachings, reinforcing Catholic values and encouraging appropriate attitudes towards worship and prayer.

The Parish Religious Education Program (PSR) is for all children who do not attend Catholic School full time. Our program is for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel families who are registered, contributing, and worshiping members. This program is subsidized by the support of contributing parish members. We appreciate any contribution you are able to give, as there is no charge for our books or materials for class.  All classes are Sunday mornings, 9:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.  In addition to grade level classes, sacramental preparation classes are scheduled on specific dates throughout the year. These dates and times are given out during the sacramental preparation parent meetings scheduled in September and appear on our PSR calendar.

We welcome new volunteers as teachers and classroom aids to our PSR program.  (All volunteers over the age of 18 must have Protecting God's Children training.)  If your calling is to teach the children in the way they should go, contact us!  We will find a place for you.
